Interviewing AJ Llewellyn

Today's interview is with AJ Llewellyn

1) Tell us a little about yourself?
My name is A.J. Llewellyn and I write gay (M/M) erotic fiction.
My first book Phantom Lover was published by Extasybooks.com and Fly Me to the Moon (an 'in between' books' sequel to Phantom Lover came out last month.) I have three more sequels to 'Phantom' to be published by Extasybooks this year, The Forbidden Island, My Hawaiian Song of Love and Stolen Magic: The Queen of Pentacles.
I have become very attached to Kimo and Lopaka Wilder, my two male lovers and I finally let them go off and have some private...aloha time and wrote someting completely different: a M/M light-hearted vampire tale, A Vampire In Waikiki, also coming soon to Extasybooks.com.
I am now finishing up a much shorter book for Extasy, a M/M erotic ghost story, Beyond the Reef. I've been busy!

2) Do you prefer Pepsi, Coke, or Dr Pepper?
I’m a Dr. Pepper guy!

3) What’s your favorite book/Author other than yourself?
I have to say Cooking with Miss Piggy. That pig has got it going on! What a talent! Her smiling face on the cover makes me feel happy even when I am really down.

4) What’s your favorite movie?
Seconds with Rock Hudson
Pillow Talk with Rock and Doris Day
Er…anything with Rock Hudson

5) What inspires you?
Everything. Music, newspapers, my neighbors…I listen to conversations on the bus, in Starbucks…I engage conversation with strangers. I get inspiration everywhere. I read everything I can get my hands on. It’s all fodder!

6) What are your aspirations?
To be a successful erotic fiction author!

7) What made you want to be a writer?
Writing has been my passion since I was a kid. I wrote my first book when I was seven. I was obsessed with horses then. Oh, and death. Everybody died in the end – even the horses!

8) What do you write?
I am a journalist by day, I write my novels when I can – I am constantly writing.

9) How long did It take before you where published?
Not long. I had my first newspaper column when I was fifteen, growing up in Australia. I have a career as a writer and script reader for a couple of studios. Let me tell you that job (it’s called ‘coverage’) has really sharpened my skills. I see more samples of bad work than I do good work and it’s helped me become a much better writer).
As an erotic fiction author, my awesome publisher Martine Jardin accepted my first book within a day of my sending her the first five chapters and a synopsis. A fantastic experience!

10) What writer do you most look up too?
Stephen King. I am not a fan of all his work but his output s breathtaking and his book On Writing is my bible. He got me realizing how crappy my work really was. He got me being ruthless with adjectives and adverbs and gave me invaluable advice on where to put my desk, how to deal with a fully-functional office space in my home. And he taught me how to cultivate my muse.

11) What are you working on now?
A sixth M/M book I’m going to pitch to Extasy books soon and a first for me, a collaboration with another gay erotic fiction author.

12) What do you have coming out?
Four more books (and counting) with Extasy!

13) What do you have available?
Phantom Lover and Fly Me to the Moon.

Thank you for sharing with us.
Thank you, Jade!
AJ

I enjoyed reading this interview. I loved Phantom Lover and the background flames are so appropriate to this very hot book!
